Tracks co-authored publications between universities and international organisations as a measure of research engagement across the science–diplomacy interface. Data is sourced from OpenAlex, an open catalogue of global scholarly output covering publications from 2000 onwards, and refreshed monthly. Since October 2026 the dataset only includes formally published work: preprints, datasets, conference abstracts and similar records are no longer counted. This removed many COVID-19 preprints from 2020 that were never published in a journal, so the yearly totals no longer show the 2020 peak visible in earlier versions of this page.

Analytics breaks the dataset down by country, university and organisation — including how concentrated the field is among the top players — plus the leading university–organisation and country–country collaboration pairs. Switch to Browse to search the full underlying dataset by title, author, university, country, organisation, year, research field, or publication type. Research fields and publication types are taken directly from OpenAlex's own classification of each publication, so they use a different vocabulary from the topic tags used elsewhere on this site.
